This is one example of a log from right about the time we start getting
complaints of "not getting mail" or "can not connect to SMTP server"

Now, I had to stop and start the queue manager and the SMTP server, you
should see that in the log at about 9:38.

Can you add one and see if it goes away?

But do you have an address in the daily report address field for the
queue manager? This report is run every night at midnight so I'm
wondering if that could be causing you problem.

I have logging setup because of all the problems we've been having with
the system.

Do you have a daily report set up? Try to disable that for one night
and see if the problem goes away.

Absolutely, I'd love to find out what is happening. I have called in
about this issue previously and was told that my setup was correct and I
shouldn't be seeing any issues.

Hello Alejandro and Ann,

Yes, stopping and starting smtp and qm nightly (for your situation) may
help
but other than extraordinary events (DOS attack, some form of security
breech, etc.), these services should not have to be restarted with any
regularity.

There are QM and Performance improvements coming in IMail 2006.03 that
may
help. Would it be possible for our TS group to work with you to dig a
little deeper to understand what is happening?

bye for now,

kg

A little *.bat program with this comands in it, helped me a lot.
----------------------
net stop SMTPD32
net start SMTPD32

Net Stop QUEUEMGR
Net Start QUEUEMGR
---------------------------
Run it every night or every morning, scheduled, and you will see
everything
goes better..
I been running that since we started using imail..
