JF,
I'm no expert by any means, but I run SQM in both apache and IIS on my w2k
server test mule. It seems to work fine in either environment. Also, there
is a config file that is controlled with a little perl script config.pl that
allows you to define the host and port that SQM connects to. This way, you
can install SQM on your desktop computer and connect to any IMAP server you
can get to. Although I have no experience running it on Linux, I see no
reason why it should not work the same.

Doug,
If I can pick your brain about your use of SQM... What environment do you
have it running under? I already have a web server running Linux with
Apache/PHP/etc. Could I install SQM on the Linux box even though the
Imail
server is (obviously) on a different machine, or do I have to install
Apache/PHP on Windows and run it directly on the mail server?
Thanks,
JF

Imail 8.22 / IMAP / SquirrelMail(SQM) + HTML_Mail plugin = HTML compose
capability but not integrated with Imail webmail.
Its not perfect, has some bugs related to address book access while in
HTML
mode that may be easy to iron out, but it works in place of Imail's
webmail
and won't need to be changed if you decide to upgrade to 2006 later. SQM
has the ability to display email in plain text mode by default and blocks
external images from displaying if desired. The screenshot is of a
version
of SQM that has been customised for the hMailServer, but it works with
whatever is listening on port 143.
