We working on several fronts to speed up the web interface. Right now the web client creates the XML files when you log in (the XML files contain the data displayed in the message list). We've moved the processing of the XML into to the mailbox so the XML will stay up to date whenever the mailbox changes and the web client only has to load it. This greatly reduces the load the web client puts on IMAP. We've also sped up the IMAP purge (this happens when the IMAP connection is closed) which also speeds the web client response as well as lowering the amount of load on IMAP. These architectural changes require a lot of testing, but we're trying to get it all done as fast as possible.

As far as large mailboxes, I've been testing with a 1G mailbox (148K messages) and on a test environment the message list is loading in 15 to 20 seconds. This it the time it takes the system to load, parse and sort the XML file. Once it's loaded displaying messages and changing pages works much faster.

Subject: [IMail Forum] 2006.03 Fix List?

There has been many concerns about Webmail performance in 2006.x. I've heard about SMTP/QM performance improvements and the addition of some functionality missing in 2006.x compared with 8.x, but I don't think I've seen anything regarding whether webmail performance is being addressed (particularly in terms of opening large mailboxes). Kevin, can you please update us?

A rough ETA on 2006.03 would also be greatly appreciated, to aid in my purchasing decision.

Thanks!
