We have been being plauged by spam lately for
several of our users so I am trying to head a few things off at the
pass.
One thing that I haven't used much is the Kill
List. First what I have done is go through the spool and look at several
emails that didn't get delivered for one reason or another and 99% of them are
spam. So I took the offending IP address of where they were coming from
and did a look up here: http://www.dnsstuff.com to see if they
were listed in a spam database someewhere. If they were listed I have
added them to the Kill List.
So my questions are:
1. Is this an effective way to prevent spam
from ending up on our server?
2. If it is does anyone have a good KILL
LIST? - If so would you be willing to share? :-)
3. If there is a better way I'd like to know
it.
4. We do have Premium Spam but a lot of our
users are afraid to just delete this mail. I do but lots of users don't
want to but still want to find a way to eliminate some of this junk.
Thank you for any
responses.
