I have a customer complaining that messages he receives from a specific domain are sometimes received with blank bodies.
I would like to know your comments about this. Here is the scenario I have found so far and what I have done. I use declude and set up rules to have a copy of every single message from that specific domain (the domain sending the messsages that show up blank). The copy is sent to 2 different mail servers. One in an account I created for this specific purpose in IMAIL version 8.15 and another one in Smartermail version 3.0. In both servers I run declude and it adds a footer when a message is scan for viruses. The domain sending the messages showing up blank is using Lotus Notes Release 6.5.4 (sept 2005) I found one specific message that behaves very, very strange. When I see the message via webmail (killer webmail and smartermail webmail) they both show up as follows. 1. In smartermail it says it is unable to decode the message. 2. In killerwebmail the message shows up fine. You can read everything. When I download it in Outlook they show different sizes. 1. The one from Imail downloads in Outlook as 7Kb 2. The one from smartermail downloas in Outlooks as a 25kb That is strange to start with. Then when I try to see them here is what happens. In OUTLOOK 2003 SP1 1. The one from IMAIL, shows a blank body. When I change the view encoding, nothing happens. I cannot see anything 2. The one from Smartermail shows the text properly. No problems with it. In Outlook Express. 1. The one from Imail shows a blank body. But When I change the view encoding it shows up OK. 2. Then one from Smartermail shows the text properly. So the one downloaded from smartermail show up fine in Outlook and Outlook Express, the one downloaded from IMAIL shows a blank body in Outlook and Outlook Express however the data is there. I compared the headers of the messages downloaded from smartermail and from Imail and they are just the same. Only thing out of normal in both headers is that the message is Encoded using base64, but is using charset UTF-8 Why if I can see the messages using killerwebmail (IMAIL) without any problem at all, when I download it to Outlook it shows up with a blank body?
