Hi Dave,

Thanks for taking the time to write up your comments.

Regarding this:

Finally, individual users who had created groups for large e-mailing lost the ability to create new groups and previous groups under version 8 were no longer useable
==KG> Groups that had already been created in 8.xx should continue to work with IMail 2006, you just can't create new ones, yet.  The ability to create groups is one of our top parity items that we have on the roadmap and will be looking at after the .04 release ships later this month.

On the positive side, it does have some nice interface features...  It is cleaner and the SPAM features appear to be better.  The antivirus seems to work very nicely in the background.
==KG> Yes, the AV and AS are nice and we are upgrading the Anti-Spam in the 2006.05 release currently in development.  The new AS will be faster, catch more spam (especially ones with .gifs embedded) and we're also looking into ability to let you set the frequency that the AS signatures are delivered.  the default is every 10 mins and the average size of the signature is small, about 3-4KB, but some folks want to set it to be less frequent.

bye for now,

kg

Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] 2006.03 is it safe?

I did upgrade from 8 to version 2006.

We did run into some issues because our e-mail server was also a web server for our school.  This required help from customer service (took way too long over the phone) to resolve.  We needed to keep using port 8383 for the e-mail server and did not want to dedicate the server just to e-mail.

When we upgraded to from 2006 to version 2006.3 we lost our link to Web Admin because we still had to use port 8383.  According to Ipswith tech support (e-mail), this would not work because it could not be used because the new installation could not use PORTS???

Finally, individual users who had created groups for large e-mailing lost the ability to create new groups and previous groups under version 8 were no longer usuable.  Why they took that feature out I will never know

On the positive side, it does have some nice interface features...  It is cleaner and the SPAM features appear to be better.  The antivirus seems to wokr very nicely in the background.

I have the service contract and have the ability to upgrade, is it worth it?

I have about 600 active users (about 1,000 accounts), most of whom are using
the web mail. The server processes about 10k messages a day. Is 2006.3
stable and quick enough to handle this?

I haven't heard about TOO many issues, but I'm wondering if that is because
no one is leaving 8.22.

Marc
