Could you please tell me , where the posters list file is found?

if i chose "private list" i need a special account (e.g. the one that only
is allowed to post to the list) to add and delete users from the list via
email. I tried to set up aliases that points to the program imailserv -add
/ -remove hostname listname but i get the message that this is a private
list!
umpf ??!
what can i do in this case
