In 8.11 the rules format changed a bit. The rules with [] means to filter
if any character inside the [] matches. Change your rules to \[data\]. See

Subject: [IMail Forum] 8.04 to 8.22, now Inbound Rules are not working

Yesterday I upgraded from 8.04 to 8.22. I have several IMAP folder setup for
one of my accounts. I also have several rules setup to direct incoming
messages, from newsgroup lists for example, into various folders. After the
upgrade I noticed that I wasn't receiving any messages in my inbox. After
closer inspection I realized that ALL mail was going to a folder named
Rampage. My rules.ima looks like this

[EMAIL PROTECTED]: Pitstop S~[rampage]:Rampage S~[Imail
Forum]:IMail H~colorsync-users:ColorSync S~[epson9600]:Epson
S~[prepress]: Prepress
S~[prinergy]: Prinergy
S~[epson4000]:Epson
H~darwin-drivers: Darwin Drivers
H~Macnetworkprog:Macnetworking
H~iperf-users:Iperf

For some reason every message is being caught by rule 2. Below is the header
from the message sent by this forum when I used the "forgot password" link.
The subject clearly does not contain the word rampage at all.

I also tried deleting and recreating rules.ima with just one rule (the
rampge one) but all main is still directed to the Rampage folder regardless
of actual subjet text.

I've done some more testing today. If I cut my original rules.ima file down
to the following, processing works as it should.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:Pitstop
S~[Imail Forum]:IMail
H~colorsync-users:ColorSync
H~darwin-drivers:Darwin Drivers
H~Macnetworkprog:Macnetworking
H~iperf-users:Iperf

Any of the following rules catch ALL messages. If more than one of them is
present in the rules.ima file, then the first one in the list is the one
IMail uses.

S~[rampage]:Rampage
S~[epson9600]:Epson
S~[prepress]: Prepress
S~[prinergy]: Prinergy
S~[epson4000]:Epson

The common denominator here is that they're all Subject rules. However, the
[Imail Forum] rule is a subject rule too and it does not cause this
behavior, and it works correctly as well. Below are header snippets that
show the results of each of the above rules.
