was there an IMail hive in the registry before you tried the restore using regback? If so it will fail. You must remove the IMail hive if it exists and then run the restore process

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMail registry backup - Invalid

IMAIL : Version 8.22

In upgrading a server from NT4 to 2000, we found that the registry backup created by REGBACK.exe is not valid. Our registry size for the IMail key is 593 Kbytes. All attempts to restore it on the new server failed.

The only thing that finally worked was to use REGEDIT and export the key, then import it on the new server. The difference with REGEDIT is that it exports to ASCII format.

I thought I had tried this before and it worked. Anyone else tested their IMail registry backup file to see if / how they can restore it?

  Thanks,
