After using the test database for months with good success, we purchased a messageSniffer one-year license, and then ended up switching to a BSD-based mail system, totally away from Windows/iMail.

During our time on Windows/iMail, the sniffer account/databases were doing pretty well.  I remember some false positive incidents, but the sniffer folks responded very quickly.  Overall, the inefficiency of windows and windows apps, when looking at the steady increase in volume, led us to qmail/bsd.  More bang for the buck, period.

We were going to implement sniffer on BSD, but for us it really was unnecessary in the end; using ClamAV (which runs great on bsd, compared to windows), and SpamAssassin, all combined with rblsmtpd which does a lookup while the SMTP session is still open (actively rejecting spam WITHOUT sending a bounce but instead doing a 553 during the smtp connect) has been phenominal... server barely breaks a sweat, where the windows server was choking.  And we've taken on more clients/domains since then... our Windows/iMail box would have never made it.

ANYWAY...

Therefore, I have about a half year left on a sniffer "license", that I would be willing to unload at a small discount if you are going to go with sniffer and want to actually keep the database mega-current, as the sniffer account does for you.  It would allow you to use the "live" database for another 6 months or more, without making a full year investment, to really see if your tests give you the answers you want.

Contact me off-list if you are interested; and I need to confirm with the sniffer folks how to "transfer" ownership of this account.  I don't think they should have a problem with it, since we only used it for three months before switching to a technology where it could not be easily implemented...

We're testing messagesniffer and after only a single week our verdict is that it kicks a$$!

We're using Mxguard, URI and now messagesniffer and I'm thrilled with the results.

I installed ASSP then spent several months training it. I eventually
decided against it and got rid of it. It's a great concept but very
inconsistent on how it handles spam. No amount of training got it to work
very well.

I installed Declude with Sniffer and spent about a day setting up the
filters. I hardly ever have to touch it and it works very well.

Hi,

Actually I'm playing around with ASSP. The installation was quite easy. I

spend some

time to get the perl modules. The documentation is a bit outdated, some

modules

have now a different name.

I would like to know, how many people from this list are using ASSP and

please tell

me, if you're happy with it.
