The file format will stay in the old format until you upgrade the file format. It will work quite easily for you.

I have been reading about how the old PST format is ANSI and the new format
is Unicode. My boss's PST file is about a gig and a half in size so that's
why I am upgrading just her. I am a little nervous about the upgrade and
screwing up her Outlook. Of course I will be backing it up before I do
anything, but I wondered if any of you gurus out there had some extra tips
for me.
Also, I read one tip online somewhere that if you use Word as your email
editor, Outlook 2K3 won't work with Word/Office 2K?? I couldn't find
anywhere else to substantiate the claim and hope that's not true.
