If I have one recommendation it would be to make sure that you don't let
them bulk/mass mail through your normal outbound SMTP IP. That way even
if they get the relay they are using blacklisted it will have minimal if
any effect on your regular relay. Be aware though that some RBLs block
an entire subnet so you could get caught up that way.

Other than that the cheapest way would be to set up a Linux box with
Postfix to handle the relaying. Zero cost for OS and mail software is a
good thing if you're looking to keep costs down. I know you said windows
only but it's hard to do windows and keep the $$$ down.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Newbie mass mailing question...

We currently have one Imail server to handle all incoming and outgoing
requests. A client of our has expressed an interest in a mass e-mailing
program. As the administrator of the mail server, I have concerns with
overhead and lag for all of our users. That said, what would be the best
thing to do with regards to sending out 40K emails per day but *not*
affecting the receiving/sending of mail of our existing user base?

Would I be able to purchase additional hardware and software to simply
spool
the mass e-mailings? If so, what would be the best software to use for
this
purpose? (Something fairly inexpensive would be great.) Would there need
to
be any specific DNS settings needed? Lastly, the is for a Windows
operating
system.

Thanks in advance, Che.
