Well, here's what we've learned...
We are a private school, with about 500 students, faculty, and staff total.
We're using IMail, still 4.07 (partly 'cause we're upgrading other things on
the same box). Clients include Outlook Express 4 and 5, Outlook 97/98,
Outlook 2K, Netscape Messenger 4, and god knows what else, in addition to
web messaging. After setup, it works with no difficulties. We host several
modest mailing lists, which are also in the "fire and forget" class. We're
nowhere near the limits of the software in terms of traffic or users.
We're using global rules to filter out spam and "inappropriate" emails from
certain lists some of our students are fond of. Love the price, and web
messaging is a great bonus for vacations and other travelers.
Only problem I can see is the pace of upgrades--Avoid minor version numbers
close to zero. By about X.03 or so it's time to upgrade.
Others have had different experiences, but we're quite happy, and looking
forward to upgrading to 6.03 and making our web interface more closely
resemble our web site's "look and feel."
