well we had a similar problem, we run behind a cisco firewall and i had to
but conduits for incoming as well as outgoing on the firewall. I suspect
there is setting that is not letting data back in on your proxy server

Subject: [IMail Forum] Imail & MS Proxy 2.0

We are having a problem implementing the Imail server behind a MS Proxy
server. We have used the instruction found in the knowledge base on
Ipswitch's page but we still have one problem. We are able to send mail
from a test account and the root account but we can't seem to receive
anything. Even when the message is a reply. If there is anyone who has
implemented this please respond.
