Title: 552 Error

Good morning (I'm sending this in HTML… forgive me), everyone.

A few days ago, one user began receiving errors with large attachments being emailed on a slow connection.  In the past, I've encouraged users to temporarily suspend their Symantec internet email protection, because of timeouts and whatnot, and I did the same with him.  I never heard back from him, and thought the problem solved.

It's quite likely, however, that it was not solved, and the complainer may never have called me back.  Since then, I've had no less than five people complaining that they can't send out attachments.  They receive notes from the mail server that say the following:

The message could not be sent because its size exceeded the server's limit. You can use the option, located in Tools | Accounts | Properties | Advanced, to break messages into smaller parts. Subject 'delphi-cust.xls', Account: '209.16.245.34', Server: '209.16.245.34', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '552 Virus found inside of the email', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 552, Error Number: 0x800CCC6D

Yet each rejected outgoing message has only an Excel spreadsheet as an attachment.  That's it.
When I Google "552 Virus found inside…" or any variant of that message, I receive only two links that specify anything, and was wondering if any of you have seen anything of this nature.  Any help you might provide would be wonderful.

This is Imail 8.24 running on Windows 2000 Server, POP/SMTP style.
