I did this for a while when I was on a hosted Ipswitch server who wouldn't
let me set up a list. Once I was able to access my own server I went the
way of a regular list.

>From what I can see, there is no reason this wouldn't work, depending on how
it would work. But would you use "students" to broadcast to all of the
other groups (which makes sense and is feasible), or "students" to allow all
of the groups to talk to each other? When you say you would make "grade8"
an authorized poster of "students", it sounds like a looping problem may
occur.

And maybe I'm just confused too!

Subject: [IMail Forum] Alias lists vs. Subscribe Lists

Hello all...

Up until now, we have used aliases to take care of our mailing lists.
However, we have had two problems. One, people who shouldn't be sending to
the list are, and Two, we are getting some SPAM sent to the list.

We want to switch over to the subscribe-list feature. However, with our
current setup we do a lot of 'lists with lists'

e.g.

We have four alias/groups (for this example):
'Students'
'Grade7'
'Grade8'
'Grade9'

The 'Grade#' lists have all the student's emails in them. The 'Students'
list only has 'grade7@, grade8@, grade9@'

Will we be able to duplicate that with the listserv mailing lists? I don't
see why not, if I make 'grade8@' an authorized poster to the 'students'
list. However, I would like to hear if any else has done such a thing.

Thanks,

TN
