I did this for a while when I was on a hosted Ipswitch server who wouldn't let me set up a list. Once I was able to access my own server I went the way of a regular list.

But would you use "students" to broadcast to all of the other groups (which makes sense and is feasible), or "students" to allow all of the groups to talk to each other? When you say you would make "grade8" an authorized poster of "students", it sounds like a looping problem may occur. And maybe I'm just confused too!
