I will be upgrading from 8.2 to 2006 in the next week. The server specs:
Dell 2450 1gig ram, dual 1000mhz with windows 2000 server. I did the upgrade on
a test server with a test domain. Everything went pretty smooth although the
interface is kinda clunky. My Live email server has 100 domains with about
little over 2000 users. I will let you know how it goes. I need to install IIS,
dotnet framework and the recent patches on the email server before I do the
upgrade.

to see how Imail 2006 is faring these days. I’ve been in a holding pattern on
8.2 until 2006 reached a decent level of maturity. I’m wondering what the
general consensus is on it these days? We’re running 8.2 behind an ASSP
frontend for about 250 users spread over 20 or so domains. I’d like to upgrade
to get a more advanced web mail client etc and also just to keep somewhat
current. Does anyone have any thoughts either pro or con?
The hardware we have it running on
is nothing special but with 8.2 barely ever breaks a sweat. Basically it’s an
NEC server running Windows 2000 Server w/ 512MB RAM and dual Pentium III 600Mhz
CPUs. Pretty low end but it fits this need. I’m wondering if 2006 will choke it
though. Overall most (85%) of the users are
POP3 with a few IMAP users and a few webmail users. Thank
you, Computer Associates,
