When I was running 8.22, I know that during the SMTP receive process (SMTPD) Imail will reject the message at the very end of the session if the message is too large or the mailbox is full.
So far, everyone else on 8.22 sees the same thing I do - a bounce message with both internal and external DB. Are you currently running 2006, and has this been fixed there?
