I've got 5.08 and SQL7 working, yesterday we changed the machine where
we had the SQL, and when we reboot, all were going very slowly, the
Imail administrator connect with the database, and nobody could login to
the mail; I verified the connection and the ODBC System Data Source Name
to verify it's the form:

DSName;UID=<SQL user id>;PWD=<SQL passwd for the user
id>
                                   ^ Passwd of the user
^ User with access to the database in the SQL 7.0
^Name In the Control Panel - ODBC System DSN

We did'nt need it, but somebody told to add the database to connect
here, in the form

                ;BD=<mail>
^ Name of the database where the imail table is
content

After all, make sure to shutdown both machines, and power up first the
database one, and after the imail one, after all of this, all were
right.

I think there's a problem with Imail, that there are some things (like
forward info) that is not in the external database, and you can't use
the external database to move all the users from one computer to another
