ASSP, Declude, Sniffer, Imail anti-spam/virus all require additional, significant processing on the mailbox server.

The point is the two-box solution, whatever the software.

Not neccesarily. The ASSP solution on the same box will drasticly reduce the amount of mail received and passed on for AV testing and mail delivery. The greylisting feature is the key here. There is very little effort in receiving the HELO and envelope info and then rejecting the mail for the purpose of greylisting. Simply put, installing ASSP in front of Imail on a box that is overrun with spam _can_ avoid the need for another box. It is a great first step and with the default settings for spam detection is very accurate in blocking email from invalid sources and spambots. If after adding ASSP the box is still working too hard, then I would consider adding a second box and would be taking a very hard look at Imgate. Barring that, there are alot of ASSP installs running on Linux and Mac OSX.

Good Luck,
