Wouldn't it be nice mail servers could use some flavor of compression on
emails between mail servers we would all enjoy bandwidth savings.

Anyway, we really need this feature to ensure our servers aren't sent 10 or
50 GB files because it's going to happen at some point.

In this pay-per-bandwidth age, this is sadly the truth among many asps for
isp That host email and web services. Ie, people love to upload images and
video. The simple Fix for images would be to have a java app or activex
that resizes the image to the size needed Before its uploaded to save
bandwidth and use the user's cpu cycles to do the legwork instead Of your
server. While this seems obvious, developers don't get it.
Especially in these
Times of 10 megapixel digital cameras that make 5 meg files.

Upload your image here...just resize it, crop it and do a bunch of work on
it manually before you Upload...then people say "to heck with it. Too much
work."

What ever happened to making the computer work for US. Make mail smarter.
Make it reject mail
That is too large ahead of time.

The only thing worse than the case you stated is if the server, by chance,
only had 100 megs free drive space. Not only did the transfer sit and take
place, but you run the risk of running the drive out of space.

That's a much needed feature, ipswitch!

There's little point in even having a setting like that if it sucks up
bandwidth/resources in and out to tell someone that it's too large.

Sadly, correct!
