I am not sure about the point in your email.
I was obviously extolling the virtues of common milk chocolate as a social
lubricant in a mixed environment workplace. Duh. :o) (just kidding)
I did not see any suggestion on how to correct this problem or your own
personal experience.
I read your blurb about a lightweight mail server that has nothing to do
with this
Ouch. My personal experience has been that this is not a problem for us.
There are thee possibilities I can see:
1. either we are not receiving the "killer" emails at all.
2. we are receiving them but our smtp gateway protection is not letting them
through for some reason.
3. we are receiving them or others like them and our Imail 8.22 is having no
problems whatsoever.
Are you telling us that we need to install a 3rd party application to make
Imail run stable?
That was certainly implied and has been the object of discussion here many
times. I believe it to be true. So do many others. One solution, ASSP, is
free and will run on the same Windows server that Imail does. It takes a
bit of effort to learn and set up, but is well worth the effort. If you
don't have the time, then Len's free Imgate solution (using a dedicated PC)
is available and I believe he can be contracted to set it up for you
remotely.
There are other solutions as well, including the free hMailserver between
ASSP and Imail to act as a gateway, as ASSP is only a proxy by itself
(doesn't do store and forward).
Good luck,
Doug (enjoying the holiday feasting too much) Traylor
