Get a humidifier in there quick even if it means hanging up some wet towels. I'd certainly make sure everything is well ground but the static is likely to be a serious problem.
Then find the cause of the problem. Often this is attributed to cold air outside air coming into the building - a problem at this time of year in the northern lattitudes (not a problem here in Wales this year as its been mild and wet and windy for the last 4 months). Cold air has low humidity, warm it up and relative humidity plummets. At 15% you could probably turn the sprinklers on for a few seconds and not a drop would touch the servers. I say that in jest by the way. What kind of 'server room' is this? Your CRAC units really should have humidity controls built into them. -Jay -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of John T (Lists) Sent: Monday, January 15, 2007 11:55 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [IMail Forum] WAY OT: Server room humidity Question for those that have experienced this. When the humidity gets down into the dangerous level of less than 15% or even less then 10%, what do you do? Just have a policy of hands off the equipment? Put a humidifier in there? Make everyone strap in and use static discharge mats? John T eServices For You "Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood."
