Normally you would have a hostname in the MX record instead of an IP
address. I'm not sure if that causes the problem, but it would certainly
help troubleshoot for 3partners.biz to fix that. Then you could check to
see what IP you resolve for the mail host record, and see if there are any
DNS resolution problems.

When you do an nslookup from the server, what do you see for the MX record?

Darin.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Imail using the wrong A record

I have a client that is trying to send mail to a domain.
Our server is trying to his the A record for that domain and not the MX
record.

Any idea why and now to fix this?

Here is the info about the domain from DNSSTUFF
3partners.biz. NS IN 7200 DNS2.DEDICATEDNS.COM.

 3partners.biz. A IN 3600 206.138.231.16

 3partners.biz. MX IN 3600 66.196.218.178. [Preference = 1]

 3partners.biz. SOA IN 3600

Primary DNS server: DNS1.DEDICATEDNS.COM.
Responsible Name: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Serial: 2005101218
Refresh: 43200 (12h)
Retry: 7200 (2h)
Expire: 604800 (1w)
Minimum/NegTTL: 3600 (1h)

 3partners.biz. NS IN 7200 DNS1.DEDICATEDNS.COM.

 DNS2.DEDICATEDNS.COM. A IN 300 206.16.197.8

 DNS1.DEDICATEDNS.COM. A IN 300 65.109.255.100

I noticed that they are using an IP for MX record, could that be why
imail gets confused?
