It's been a couple of years since I worked on this app so my memory on it is a bit foggy, but it should work. This app is going to drop the messages into the spool to be delivered by the queue manager. But, to make sure, you could set up an alias that fowards to your off-server account and have this app deliver to the alias. Or, set up a test account on the old server, send some mail to it, and try it with this app first to see what happens.

Tripp,

Thanks for finding the app. If I run this on the IMail server and the email account is not hosted on that server, will it be sent out using the gateway server that is setup for outgoing email?

I have a couple of domains running exim on a linux server that I would like to use this for also. That is why I am asking...

Thanks,
Grant

I found a backup and the page is restored at http://www.tndnet.us/impop

I no longer have the web page that described the program and it's usage;
somehow it was merged into another web page when I lost a hard drive last
year. I still have the executable though.

I looked back through the archives and it was not a client, but a utility
to
POP a mailbox and forward the mail to a new address. However, the link
Tripp posted no longer has any info about it.

Tripp, would it be possible to repost info on the POP and forward utility
you developed?

Darin.

If I'm remembering the same email, I think Tripp mentioned the
IMail Client (installed on the server). But I don't think it will
cause the messages to go 'through the gateway' as Grant wants. It
is a POP3 client (fill out the POP3 section, not the Mailbox
section, at the Logon screen) and as such would download the
messages right into the users local mailbox. Although it might be
possible to use IMail Client, to connect to the remote server and
forward/resend multiple messages to the IMail server, following
whatever path normal mail would take.

Since it is a client, it can only handle one user/mailbox at a
time. If the need is to collect multiple users email, you would
need to know login info for each user.

I seem to remember Trip Allen posting a little POP utility that
could do
just that. I checked the archives but the link no longer has
info on the
pop utility. Perhaps Tripp would be kind enough to post a new
link?

Hello All,

I need to find a way to be able to pull emails from another
hosting
company to our email servers and I want them to go thru our
gateway
boxes first. Does anyone know of a tool that will pop the old
hosting
company and then resend the email out to the new host? I can run
this
on *nix or windows.

Thanks,
