And  none  of  them  are  good  for anything but individual attacks on
targeted  accounts.  I  have  a  grave mistrust of apps that emphasize
uplevel  IP  socket  discarding  as a security measure. It would amost
always  be  better  for  such apps to be written to a firewalling/port
blocking API offered by the host OS or by other kernel-level software.

I  do  agree with your point. You have the right to complain about any
lost feature and should get an explanation.

FYI,  if  you  are  using  Active Directory as your userbase, you will
naturally  take advantage of AD's max login attempts. If you are using
SQL, you can simulate the same functionality using a trigger.
