It's very frustrating, because it's the obvious question that many small
account converting to Imail have. It's been reported for years and they
prefer to continuously annoy their users rather than spend a moment to fix
it.

While I understand that one or two character userIDs  are easier to guess
that longer userIDs - ultimately the choice lies with the user NOT the
vendor.  (IMail even permits "nobody" aliases, which are a really bad idea
in today's dictionary attacks.)
