Hi, I'm pretty certain that Imail's SMTPD32 binds to the IP address associated with a domain for outbound SMTP. And I assume it would choose the offical host name for that IP-bound domain in the EHLO/HELO? Is that latter assumption correct?
I now have problems with some mail sent by the list server for a virtual domain. How does Imail decide which of the 3 IP addresses on the server it will pick for virtual domains? The IP address it picks in my case does not have the reverse DNS to match the EHLO/HELO host - which some providers use to block mail (very few, but it happens)! I checked through the registry and found that the "Advanced SMTP Options" has an "Outgoing HELO/EHLO host name" setting which apparently is used for any outbound mail - no matter what IP address is used? That value is stored in the registry at /Services/SMTPD32/Parameters/EhloHost. Is the "Outgoing HELO/EHLO host name" a REQUIRED parameter (the help is silent on that), or can I delete that value so that IMail will look up the proper official host name that goes with the IP address that SMTPD32 binds to? If SMTPD32 requires the EhloHost field (if it's a mandatory setting), then it means that ALL outbound mail will have the same host name, no matter WHERE it is sent from. In that case it would seem logical that we should be able to bind SMTPD32 to exactly ONE IP address so that it matches EhloHost.
