What do you mean by 'subscription confirmation'? All our lists are set up so
that when a person requests to subsacribe to the list, they must first be
approved by the List admin ('By Subscription' in LSoft terminology). Lists can
also be set up so that anyone can sign up without approval, or so that you can't
even ask the list serv to sign you up; you must e-mail the list admin direct.
Errors in the list are sent to the list admin, including bounce messages and
possible mail-loops.

Yes, but it's not LSoft's fault. (in case you're wondering, yes, my number one
request for ipSwitch is to get iMail so that it only monitors the IP addresses I
tell it to.)

Fortunately, not much. Our ran for a long time on an NT workstation,
P133/64MB. ListServ has web access, and archiving features. if you turn these
on for any of your lists, plan disk space accordingly.
