The user can also be set up in a configuration file for the remote service
so it doesn't have to be an account on the server.

Sorry, I should have been more careful. Admin permissions are not required.
I suggested admin privileges only because I could not remember if they were
required. I forgot that the remoting service actually handles all the
requests, so the windows user need only be able to login to the remote
server.

Another FLAW on the part of the IMail design team. NOTHING should ever
require ADMINISTRATIVE level access for general operation. Only
INSTALLATIONS and OS mods should require ADMIN access. Running any program
under administrative level access is a major security flaw and invites
problems.

The remoting requires Windows user credentials not Imail. Choose/create an
admin user on the remote server and use those credentials.

Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Console Admin Utility
Thanks for the link to the download! I got it installed and am able to run
the app on the IMail server itself, but get an error when trying to access
it remotely.
Error Initializing.
System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: A remote side
security requirement was not fulfilled during authentication. Try increasing
the ProtectionLevel and/or
ImpersonationLevel. --->System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The network
logon failed
---End of inner exception stack trace ---
Then it goes on with about 30 lines of info that don't really mean anything
to me. I tried using the default port and encryption level and then added
the registry entry to disable encryption. Tried with and without encryption.
I get the above error when I use the full [EMAIL PROTECTED] format.
When using just the username it get the following.
Error Initializing.
System.Security.Authentication.InvalidCredentialException: The server has
rejected the client credentials. ----> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exceptoin:
The logon attempt failed
---End of inner exception stack trace ---
Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong here or have I found a bug?
(Also, this IMail server is also a domain controller for the time being.
Hope to change that at a later date.)
Thanks
Jared

Evans,
It uses .NET Remoting so it can run local or remotely.

Does this utility have to run on the mail server or does it interface via a
webservice, etc.? In other words, can I run it remotely?

Thanks, Chad. That's the kind of things I'm looking for. Both have been
added to the feature request list.

Since you are taking suggestions, I would love to see the following:
1. The mailall utility integrated into the console so that I could email
all users on the system or all users of a domain
2. Integrating the expunge functionality into the console, maybe even be
able to schedule the utility
I would prefer to see #1 before #2, but both would be nice-to-haves.
Keep us posted.
Thanks,

We will be releasing the next Technical Preview of the admin console in the
next few weeks with the final release scheduled for version 10.5 in early
Q4, 2008.
We have a dedicated developer on the admin console for the remainder of the
10.5 development cycle and we welcome any and all comments and suggestions
on how it can be a better product. Chad, your suggestion for edit "all
users" has been logged. We'll see what we can do to get that in there. If
you have any other questions or comments on the admin console, please post
them here or send them to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I only upgraded to 2006.23 a few days ago from Imail 7. I have been using
the console and I think it has worked great for me so far. I would like to
see an edit "all users" function in addition to their "by domain"
functionality.

- IMail Server 2006.2 must be installed, before you install WAdmin Console.
To download IMail Server 2006.2, go to:
http://www.ipswitch.com/products/imail/index.asp
- Do not install the WAdmin Console in the same directory as IMail Server.

Anyone have any news on the IMail Console Admin utility? I know there was a
beta available for download quite a while ago, but I was never able to
download it. Anyone have much experience using that beta or any word on when
a new beta or the final version will be released?
