That's a feature being introduced in IMail 10.

That is exactly why we added the new "Impersonate" feature. The Imail
client
was removed because of incompatibility issues so we introduced the
impersonation feature for admins so that they would get that functionality
back.

There used to be a utility supplied with Imail called "Imail client" that
ran on the server and gave an administrator access to a mailbox without
needing to lookup the password. Very helpful. For some reason, they
dropped it. Maybe if there are enough requests, they will bring it back.
