Subject: SSL Benchmarks?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to compile some performance and benchmark information for
before/after implementation of SSL for various mail protocols.

Understanding that we all have different hardware and such, does anybody
have any comparison numbers they will share about change, or lack thereof,
before and after implementing SSL for IMAP4, POP3 and/or SMTP? We're also
looking at doing the certificate for the WebMail side as well. Any
statistics on processing time or resource usage would be great.

I'm running ICS 2006.1 Premium Unlimited on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
Edition (SP2). Hardware is dual Intel Xeon 3.06 GHz processors with 2 GB of
RAM. I ran a quick check with the Log Analyzer and I'll just guesstimate
9-12k messages delivered locally per day since the sample date range (4
days) was so small. I'm tentatively scheduled to put up new servers this
summer with the current version, but I'm being asked to investigate with
regard to our existing version for possible implementation in the meantime.

Long shot on available data understood - anything at all would be
appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

John Richardson
