This is one hell of a workaround, but if you have SSL set up on the mail
server AOLs browser can log in succesfully in secure mode.

I signed on to AOL via tcp rather than via dialup.
I went to http://mail.hksi.net/, entered demo and blue (and all
combinations, including both, of check-boxes) and each time I tried
to login, via either mouseclick or return-key, I simple cycled to the
same page. When entering a different userid and password, I get a
"login attempt failed" message, but when using demo/blue I seem to
get a simple re-load of the same page. When not using AOL, I'm able
to sign in successfully using this mac with both netscape 4.7 and IE
4.5.
On Win98:
Same as above in all regards: tcp connect, no success w/ aol, yes
otherwise, no reaction to checking both boxes (aol or otherwise),
login failure if wrong name/passwd, page reload (apparently) when
using demo/blue.
By the way - what does happen when one chooses both the check boxes?
