I haven't seen the problem you are having, but you shouldn't advertise that
LDAP information to your users until you actually have it working. Several
folks on this list have had major problems getting MS clients to work
correctly with the Imail LDAP server. I haven't been able to get it to
display the names correctly without going into each account and editing it
directly after creating it. You also have to configure the client with
objectclass=person and I just don't have the time.
Also, there is an LDAP add-on for Outlook 97 you can get from Microsoft. I
believe it's on the officeupdate site.

We are using MS Outlook 97 (Office SR-2) as a mail client. Some messages
come through with a "Message.txt" attachment, and the body says: "This
message could not be converted. To report this problem to Microsoft, please
forward this message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]" (Of course, this is not a
valid address.) These are local emails, never leaving the IMail server.
Microsoft says this is a bug with the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch for
Outlook 97, and does give me a work-around, although not a very satisfactory
one. We didn't have this problem with our Sendmail server running on Linux,
so I suspect IMail must be doing something different. Ipswitch support says
this is strictly a client problem. Has anyone seen this, and is there a fix?
I'd be willing to make changes on the clients or the server, whichever would
work.(I'll be upgrading to Outlook 2000 within 2 months - it doesn't exhibit
this problem and it supports LDAP.)
