The problem is I need to lever in the access to the mailbox within a
standard page design, and our users are validated on entry to the site so
the access to their inbox needs to be transparent, so they can flip around
our menus on our site without having to view a separate e-mail section.
I am still at the investigation stage so I will definitely try and use or
learn from your templates.

Welcome to the list! You'll find lots of helpful people here.
Have you looked at IMail's built-in Web Messaging service? Some of us
have worked pretty hard putting a pretty face on Ipswitch's default
templates... you can view a demo of our templates at
http://mail.hksi.net, and you can find others at
http://ipswitch.com/Products/IMail_Server/template.html.
Certainly, you could write a custom ASP POP/IMAP client, but that's not
for the fainthearted. And when you were done, it almost certainly
wouldn't have half the functionality of Ipswitch's templates, especially
on the host and list administration side of things.
