Hmm...

I think that we have the problem narrowed down to this...the web form for adding users
to the mailing list is indeed adding them to the user.lst file, but is adding them
with <brackets> around the address. If I am correct, the .lst file requires no
brackets and a carriage return after each address. Is this correct, and if so, where
do I modify this setting to allow the address to be subscribed with no brackets?

Bryan,

Thanks for keeping me on my toes. :) I just did a little test, and I was
right about being able to add users from the web admin interface, but
wrong about which file the address gets written to. It's users.lst that
IMail uses for mailing out, and that's the only one that gets changed
from the web. Users.txt, according to
http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19981218-EM01.htm, "... is a list of
the user names and e-mail addresses that is updated automatically when
someone subscribes or unsubscribes to the list-server mailing list."

Anyhoo, I was able to add/modify/delete just fine from the web, which
writes only to users.lst, was able to post to the list and receive
messages, and then was able to unsubscribe with a regular e-mail from
one of the addresses I subscribed the "wrong" way. So I'm still not sure
what users.txt does, and why it's important, since my tests all passed.
Using 6.02 on NT4, btw.
