Randy,   Generally speaking when InterNIC makes a change on the root DNS servers it is not "pushed" anywhere other than the other root DNS servers.  Your DNS server does not care what changes are made until a request is made.  When your DNS receives a request for xyz.com and the authoritative information is not currently in its own cache it then asks a root DNS server for the information.  That information is then stored in your DNS chache.   Not too complicated really.   Joe ----- Original Message ----- From: alein44 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, March 29, 2000 10:12 AM Subject: [IMail Forum] Off Subject (DNS) Quick question about dns. Would my local dns server hold all the global records or point to major dns servers that hold the global records.
