OK, I give up, unless someone has an answer to this one.

Like some other Imail users we are getting a major problem with SMTP32.exe processes
not being closed. They sit there using memory and zero processor time on the NT4
(service pack 6a) server. We use V6.03 Imail behind a firewall with other machines
providing inbound and outbound virus checking. All outbound mail is delivered to
another host for virus checking and then forwaded for delivery to the firewall. All
works well if web messaging is not used, but the dead SMTP processes build up when the
webmail is used to any extent by out potential 44,000 users. Total traffic in and out
is about 2000 messages per day - mostly short. I had hoped that moving to V6 would
remove this problem that we also suffered with V5.

Tried all the DNS fixes for MX records, registry alterations as given on the knowledge
base but nothing stops these dead processes building up. There are no mailing lists
running. At the current time we have to reboot the server every day to clear them
out. Any suggestions or new ideas to try please? Or has anyone got a program to
monitor these processes and kill them when they reach a certain number? It's a real
pain.
