The problem is that immediately after the server replies with "+OK welcome",
the session is encrypted.  After that, every character (send and received,
including CRLFs) goes through an encryption algorithm (albeit even simpler
than the registry password encoding scheme) before being sent/received.  If
you "crack the code", you can use telnet to communicate with IMUTL.
