>IMail using Exchange; So he will need to setup SMTP Forwarding I believe.

no, it's called 'relay options', but yes, it's also referre to as
"store/forward"

His client has to have fixed ip address for his Exhange box. Else, GAMEOVER.

If his client has fixed ip, then in the Imail shop:

1. in Imail ContPanel:SMTPSecurity:MailRelayOptions:relay for address
clicked and put in his client's fixed ip address so Imail will relay. This
excludes all other policies on the other radio buttons. It may mean that
his dial-up clients must re-configure their mail clients to use STMP AUTH,
which he will have to activate in Imail, too (SMTPSecurity)

2. in NT hosts file of Imail machine, to tell Imail where to relay the
exchange client's mail:

ip.ad.re.ss exchangedomain.com

3. In DNS, in the zone file for the client's domain:

@ MX 10 Imailbox.ISPdomain.com

This gets the client's mail dumped on ISPdomain.com where Imail will store
it until ETRN pickup.

4. Imail receives the relay mail and will immediately try to send it,
repeatedly, according to ContPanel:SMTP:QueueTimer params. He will see
lots of this in his imail SYSmmdd.txt logs:

trying ip.ad.re.ss of exchange machine
MX Connect fail

This is ugly as sin but don't worry, it's OK. Imail's a little stupid here,
it can't be told to HOLD relayed mail, it just tries to send it once it
gets some.

In the client's exchange machine, in broad strokes of the big picture:

1. Install and configure the Internet Connector.

2. Tell IC to forward all outgoing mail to ip address of Imail machine.
This allows exchange to dump on imail quick and hang up.

3. Tell IC to use ETRN at the ip address of Imail machine.

The above probably won't work first time, but it's not a bad start,
assuming the guy is lost and can't read the Imail manual.

Now I earned my plug:

http://IMGate.MEIway.com, which allows, as well an excellent anti-spam
defense for Imail, off-loading all mail relay from Imail AND anti-spam for
the ETRN clients.
