Hi Daniel,

Since for some reason you're not allowed to reply to me directly,
I'll also post this to the list.

Let me give you a scenario of what happened a coupld days ago:

We had a problem with our SMTP32.EXE service consuming 100%
utilization, which eventually caused the SMTP service to stop responding.
Later that evening, many POP3 users could not access their mail box. I get
a message from Susan King saying "As soon as you fix the SMTP service, the
POP3 should work also". Right off the top of my head, that sounds bazaar as
they are two seperate services. I end up finding a message in the forum
that says "Delete the main.uid to fix POP3 problems". BOOM, everything
works with POP3 again. Why do we pay $500 to call IPSwitch MAYBE 2-3 times
per/year, when the answers they offer A) Don't Apply, and B) Are ridiculous.
Such as scanning through 800 domains, and thousands of aliases to see if we
have a mail loop.

The 50 Limit alias is also totally ridiculous. First off, it should
be able to handle that many aliases, and even If Imail can't handle 50
aliases, PUT A LIMITATION ON IT. Don't let a user who has no idea about the
limitation take down our entire mail system. THIS IS CALLED A BUG, which
IPSwitch fails to admit. Same thing with a Mail Loop, check to see when
they're adding the alias, DOES THIS CREATE A MAIL LOOP? If So, sorry user,
you can't do this. Could you honestly see us emailing our Users:

"Please count your aliases each time to make sure they don't exceed 50".
Maybe in 1970, but not 2000.

Daniel, it would make every IMail owner feel a thousand times better
to have IPSWitch say "Yes, we're working on them, they are important issues.
We'll stop working on all the new features we're adding in order to fix all
the bugs that exist in IMail." As of now, IPSwitch denies having any
problems with IMail.

Mark,

Thank you for your confidence! Unfortunately, I cannot answer email sent
directly to this email address. However, I often help the support guys (I'm
no longer on the front lines), when they have problems that are giving them
trouble. I'm sure whatever your troubles are, they can be resolved.

At this time, your problem is not clear to me, so I cannot offer any hints
or tips at this time. Although, it is quite unusual for IMail to 'freeze',
as you say.
I am also away from my office right now, so getting to any other email you
might have sent to other support people is not available to me.

I would suggest you take a bit more time to clearly define your troubles. If
you see 'slow' operation, open Task Manager and start looking for any
service or program that seems to be using resources (cpu and RAM in
particular). If you stop/start that service/program, that should help (at
least in the short term). Log files can also be helpful, so look them over,
too. If you find something that you think in unusual, by all means include
that portion of the log showing the situation (note: make sure you include
all lines that have the same number in () as that is the transaction number
for that particular thread).

Look in your \imail\spool directory and if you see large number of files,
you may have delivery problems, or maybe a 'loop' of some sort.
