I dont' see it this way - If he is using CF, the mail will go to whatever
outgoing mail server is specified in the CF admin - which COULD be the
IMail server but you had better check. We use a separate machine for
outgoing mail... I would EXPECT the packets would stay on the "local"
network (although they would find each other thru internet DNS) and go from
that machine over to the Imail machine.
Now as soon as someone is going to read the email, he must be using SSL or
the info is exposed. can't use the usual email client, must use webmail in
ssl mode.

E-mail will go from the IMail web server directly to the IMail mail server,
to the hard drive. This is about as secure as it can get, assuming that
you don't have other programs running on the IMail server that could have
security holes, and that your machine is physically secure.
