That's where the extra flexibility of IMGate's mail routing options.

Again, having the flow of:

1. IMgate machine(s) for anti-relay, DNS validations, and global header 
filtering.  IMGate can also enforce max msg size policy in acordance with 
your max mailbox size policy.  Rejecting over-size msgs here keeps them 
from bogging down the av scanner, a signficant pb.  IMGate can then route 
per-domain to 2., to .3., to downstream mailservers on-line, or DEFER for 
ETRN pickup by off-line servers.

2. any box for AV scanning.  One doesnt' car tht almost none of them offer 
anti-spam or anti-relay since 1. has that covered.

3. Imail

You don't have to run a Win32 box to run Win32 virus scanning. It's just 
pattern matching, and Unix knows a thing or two about string processing and 
pattern matching. vbg
