Len,

Your solution could not be enough to stop somebody that is relaying mails
from a valid userid, and with tools like mailers.

Also, I am not confortable with unix solution. Do you know if the IMGate
works under NT ??

Regards

Andres.-

Andres,

Read this week's news to see their ain't no "solution" to all of it, nor
even to most of it:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/1/11416.html

http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1005-200-2086887.html?tag=st.ne.ron.lthd.ni

... but you can take a pretty good, cost-free stab at spam with
http://IMGate.MEIway.com and it's a lot more fun and more satisfying than
doing nothing.

IMGate will give you MAPS anti-spam and DNS validations, plus global header
filtering, and a whole bunch of secondary advantages, none having anything
to do with spam, that too numerous to list here.

IMGate can even be set up so aggressively that it will catch TOO MUCH valid
mail because so many non-spamming mail servers are running open relays, and
so many mail servers and sender@senderdomain are set up so badly in DNS, no
reverse delegation, messed up HELO/EHLO hostname, etc, etc. But a couple
of sizeable ISPs report that IMGate rejects about 5% of all their mail due
to just MAPS lookups.

Plus, it looks like the aces on the postfix users list are getting close to
putting together content-filtering for postfix so IMGate will be able to
catch viruses, too, by spending only $99 for the unlimited AV scanner
engine from www.KasperksyLab.ru vs. the $1000's you can spend for AV
software, every year, with the big name-brands.

btw, I have a quote from the French importer of TrendMicro of $25,000 for
the unlimited ISP version of their software, plus $10,000/year in
maintenenance. Where's my checkbook?
