First, you need to be careful to make sure that this will work properly (file locking, 
scanning files before they disappear, and being able to read MIME).

You just need to look at the file.  In the SMD file (message headers + body), you 
would need to look at the "From: " field.  That's what the mail client uses as the 
"From:" address.  Or, you can look at the .SMP file for the line that begins with 
"S<", which is the true sender of the message (the one the mail sender's mail client 
says is the right address).
