Well I purchased the template pack from human kind. This is just FYI and sql
works for me.

I have sql 7 on one machine, imail on another.

THE STEPS I TOOK:

Download the updated sql 7 dll from niceman (can't remeber the url but do a
search on google.com for "imail dll" and it pops up).

Create a database on the sql machine for your imail users or imail will use
the generic master database.

If sql is on another machine like mine is, create a logon on the sql machine
for the imail machine. Make sure it has read & write permission. Also make
sure it has ability to create tables.

>From the imail machine setup a system DSN (system NOT user DSN or it will
not work). Set authentication to sql not NT (I had to do this I do not knwo
why).

In imail setup a new host to test (virtual or otherwise). You will have to
save the config, before you select external database or one of the buttons
you need will be grayed out (imail bug). Anyway, select external database
option.

On the Name section be sure to include your exact DSN sql login, password
and the database you wish to use. (if you don't know syntax, goto imail
knowledge base and search from "imail sql" and it is there.

Now, if you use human kinds ezsignup template set (www.hksi.net), it is
setup to use an external database just follow the instructions in embedded
int the template. You will need to put in your domains, the sql login, etc.

Now drink some wine and say a prayer to the Gods of old. Dancinf naked under
a full monn may help (I did not try it, but I can't dance).

It should work. It did for me. "Niceman" (mike I think) says his dll should
work with a heavy load, 100,000 users or so on a big machine, with sql
separate and perhaps using len's gateways to offload some of the processing.

Sorry if I rambleda bit, but I am a newbie to all this, and the obvious to
most, was not obvious to me, so I included more detail than I have seen here
before.

Cheers
