IMAP or POP3 makes no difference to IMail. BUT, your client settings
determine what IMail does. Sounds like your clients are set to only mark
messages as deleted, and not 'purge' the deleted messages. Look for that
word somewhere in the settings and set it so messages are purged at some
particular time or by some particular operation and do it. All deleted
messages should go away after that purge.
