I am working on building a backup Imail 6.02 server "just for practice" so
if I ever have to do it for real and in a hurry I will have had the
experience. The directions off of this Forum and the KB say to back up the
registry by going into Iadmin --> Localhost --> Backup. I type a filename
and hit backup. Here is where the first weird thing is. The KB directions
say that I should name the file with a .reg extension, but the directions in
the backup box say that there should be NO extension. (BTW, the KB article
I am using is http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19980116-JB11.htm) This
seems to work fine. However, the file that is created is not a text file,
like a .reg, but it looks like a Word97 file being opened in notepad - some
understandable text but mostly gibberish. Then anytime I perform a restore
using that file I created, it gives me an immediate Restore Failed. I have
even gone over to my "new" IMail server, hit backup then restore, and I
still get the fail message. Is this function completely hosed on 6.02?

Thanks!

Matt
