I tried to get LDAP working using Microsoft's implementation, but it seems
to require the SMTP services (part of IIS 5.0) to be installed. After
installing SMTP service, I cannot start the SMTP service in IIS because
there is a conflict (I'm assuming port) with IMail. My solution was to
change ports for the SMTP service, but that did not seem to help.

Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] LDAP on Windows 2000
If you have IMail running on a domain controller (running Active Directory),
then I believe that Windows 2000 will automatically have LDAP running on
that server. Therefore, IMail's LDAP wouldn't be able to run (at least not
on the same port). I'm not sure if it is possible to disable AD's LDAP --
it would be very risky, unless you can get confirmation that this is O.K. to
do.

Hello!
I have set up Imail 6.0 with patches (version 6.03) on a Windows 2000
system. The system has been configured to sync with the user accounts in
Windows 2000 (nice feature), to ease admin headaches. Only problem is LDAP
does not seem to work. I have tried connecting with Outlook Express,
Outlook 2000, Netscape, and tried to test it with IPSwitch Ping ProPack (I
believe that is the correct product).
Tried some of the suggestions in the Knowledge Base with no success. It
seems like the service is not running (although it is)...
Anyone tried to do this and had problems? The error reported by ProPack is
no binding was taking place. Could NT be preventing LDAP from connecting to
a port somehow?
Thanks,
Tom
