"Files with .gse or .gsc extensions are messages from postmaster. These
contain messages that could not be delivered with a statement about what
failed."

I don't see much "statement about what failed" in there. "statement about
what failed" is your key to understanding What's Goin On.

>does that mean that it is stuck in the que when this happens.

"that could not be delivered" = "stuck", yes, let's assume that equation is
true! vbg

I don't mess with the queue files directly, but in the Imail control panel
there is a Queue tab where you have some buttons to play with for resending
now rather than waiting for the next queue run (ie the "retry X times every
Y minutes" thing). Do you see 3714 files in there?

If you're really in the list business seriously, and these spikes of Imail
list deliveries, failures, re-queing, etc, is driving you and your Imail
box nutz with deterioration in the "user experience", then I suggest you
add a P200 IMGate machine just as "output gateway" and have Imail "sent all
mail through a gateway: ip address IMGate". This would allow Imail to dump
all that list traffic+headaches at full speed (Imail doesn no DNS lookups,
no queuing, no delivery failures) on IMGate, and then IMGate does the
delivery and nasty business.
